Brief Introduction of Physical Education
Department of Wenshan Teachers College
The predecessor of the physical education
department (PED) is physical education office,
which was built up in 1978. On the basis of
physical education office, the PED was founded
in 2004. Under the permission of YunNan Educational
Department, PED enrolled the college students
of PE major in 2003. In 2004, PED enrolled
five-year college students of PE major. Now,
it has 300 college students who major in PE
in Wenshan Teachers College. The main duty
of PED is follows:① to provide instruction
for full-time students of PE major and students’
affair management, to provide adult education
for others;② to finish the teaching task of
providing public physical education for all
students in the college and parts of students
who choose the physical education as optional
course; ③ to organize outside class physical
education activities for students and teachers
and arrange different physical education competitions
both inside and outside our college.
Now, PED has 20 teaching
staffs and faculties. Among them, there are
15 full-time teachers. PED has one associate
professor four lecturers, two postgraduates
and two postgraduates in study. PED has 20
people who have got national coaches certificates,
two teachers have ever been to Guangzhou Physic
Education College and Chengdu Physical Education
College to carry out academic exchange and
visit. PED employs several famous experts
and scholars as visiting professors. Recently,
PED undertakes one province level scientific
research, one in-college scientific research.
PED has issued four teaching materials (textbooks)
and more than 20 papers.
PED has the training
center for social instructors and national
judges; and it is the center for Wenshan prefectures
traditional physical education events---CuQiu
and walking sticks. It is the station of fitness
Qinggong in Wenshan.
PED always holds
high level teaching quality. Nowadays, there
are more than 300 full-time students in PED.
The students who have graduated from the PED
enter for national sports meeting and province-level
or state-level sports meeting, have achieved
good rewards.
At present, the PED
team of playing dragons and lions has performed
several times both in our college and in Wenshan
Prefecture, and got good remarks, which shows
its influence and forms the specific characteristics
of the PED of Wenshan Teachers’ College
